How to Remove Flow Restrictor From Moen Handheld Shower Head

It's always possible to eliminate the flow restrictor to boost the water pressure coming from the Moen handheld shower head, especially where low water flow is prevalent. Remove the showerhead by using an adjustable wrench at the hose or pipe. Always cover the connecting area with a cloth in case of scratches on the finish. Locate the rubber washer or O-ring at the inlet and remove it-you can now see the restriction there, usually holding it in place. Unscrew the washer using the tip of a small screwdriver, or tweezers, or exposing this way the flow restrictor located inside the shower head inlet. The restrictor is that small colored insert of plastic disc that hangs in there. To reach them use the needle nose pliers. Careful though as pulling out too strenuously could damage parts other than that restrictor; and try not to move the flow restrictor along, forcing it to avoid ruining the inner core components of the restrictor. Remove the restrictor and reassemble the shower head by putting the washer back in place and screwing the head back onto the hose or pipe. Turn the water back on to test the flow, making sure all the connections are tight and leak-free.
